The funding is being channelled through the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA).

The second phase of the project is being implemented from now until July 2016, focusing on natural disaster risk management with the community’s involvement, improvement of awareness about the issue, and enhancement of preventive measures.

Thua Thien Hue province’s People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Truong Luu said that JICA has also previously helped the province carry out a project to improve the central provinces’ natural disaster adaptation capacity in a project which was completed between 2009-2012.
