Also at the event, 20 female students from universities across the country were awarded prizes for the Brightest Female Student in Information Technology 2018.

The two accolades have been held by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee (HCYU) since 2003 to discover talent and stimulate a passion for technology and science research amongst young people.

Addressing the awards ceremony, Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, applauded the young talents, calling on them to make further contributions to the country and society.

He expressed his hope that the HCYU would launch more emulation movements and initiatives to create platforms for young people to learn from each other and promote their creativity.

The same day, Politburo member Nguyen Thien Nhan also attended a ceremony to honour the winners of the 10th Information Communication Technology Awards (ICT AWARDS).

Themed “For a smart, innovative and creative city”, this year’s event received 75 entrants operating in the field of information and communication technology in the city.
