Seminar gathers young officers of Vietnam and Lao

The border guards of Vietnam’s Son La Province and Thanh Hoa Province held a seminar entitled “Young officers” in Houaphanh Province, Laos, on March 3.

The event also included an exchange with historical witnesses who worked and fought in Houaphanh Province.

The seminar saw the presence of Lao Deputy Defence Minister cum Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakone, and Vietnamese Senior Lieutenant General cum Deputy Minister of Defence Hoang Xuan Chien, along with leaders of Houaphanh Province and 50 young officers of the Vietnam and Laos border guards.

This is an annual exchange programme within the framework of cooperation between the three provinces of Son La, Thanh Hoa, and Houaphanh as well as the armies of Vietnam and Laos in general.

The event aims to strengthen the friendship, solidarity, and mutual understanding of young officers of the three provinces, contributing to preserving and developing the comprehensive cooperative relationship.

The seminar reviewed the tradition and history of heroic revolution and the close attachment between the armies of the two countries during the resistance wars for national defence.

The three units also held a volleyball competition, planted trees, held art performances, and visited some revolutionary historical sites and landscapes in Houaphanh Province.

The delegations from the two Vietnamese provinces also presented 20 gifts, worth 1 million VND each, to needy students in Xam Neua, Laos.
