It is the first foreign military vessel to visit the port, a major international dock which was inaugurated on March 8. The port is designed to ensure logistic services, maintenance, repair and refuelling for all domestic and foreign ships, both military and civilian.
The visit follows the success of the seventh Singapore-Vietnam Defence Policy Dialogue (DPD) which took place in Singapore in late February. It is also aimed at strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Singapore, as well as the two countries’ armies.
During the visit, the Lieutenant colonel will pay a courtesy call to leaders of Khanh Hoa People’s Committee and Navy High Command Zone 4 and visit some popular spots in the locality.
Cam Ranh International Port, is the biggest port in Vietnam in terms of wharf length – handling 18 ships at once and accommodating ships of up to 110,000 DWT – and is designed to protect ships against level 8 gales and storms.
