This was a meaningful activity by the Vietnamese community living and working in Japan towards the homeland, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (September 2, 1945 – 2025).
The programme attracted more than 1,000 spectators, including overseas Vietnamese, students, trainees, and international friends from many cities in the Kansai region such as Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, and Nara.
In her speech at the event, Le Thuong, Chairwoman of the General Association of Vietnamese in Kansai, emphasised: “We organise this programme not only to celebrate National Day together, but also to remind every Vietnamese person living abroad to always be proud of and preserve the cultural values of the nation. This is also an occasion for the community to meet, connect, and together look towards the Fatherland.”
With the theme of national pride and solidarity, the programme featured many unique musical and dance performances along with songs imbued with the homeland’s melody, presented by community artists and students.
The performances were meticulously staged, combining music, dance, and lighting, creating a solemn and emotional atmosphere. This was also an opportunity for the younger generation born and raised in Japan to better understand, cherish and take pride in their roots.
The programme also left an impression with the performance of traditional ao dai. The amateur models were young Vietnamese in the Kansai region, confidently and gracefully conveying the beauty of Vietnamese culture to international friends.
Alongside the performances, the event also included cultural and culinary exhibitions, folk games, and calligraphy stalls, creating a cosy and colourful community space.
Trinh Van Thien (currently working in Osaka) shared: “This was the happiest and most joyful National Day celebration for me since coming to Japan. I arrived early at the venue to support the organisers. It was a moving and proud art programme. I want to thank the organisers because I had the chance to sing the National Anthem with a large group of Vietnamese in Japan to celebrate our country’s National Day.”
The General Association of Vietnamese in Kansai stated that it will continue to organise culturally rich events and expand their scale in the future, aiming towards establishing a Vietnamese Cultural Week in Kansai, an annual cultural-artistic forum for overseas Vietnamese and international friends.
