The two teams engaged in fierce attacks from the start as they were both thirsty for points to improve their positions on the provisional standings. Ahead of the match, Long An had been placed closest to bottom with seven points, while Nghe An ranked ninth with 13 points.

With a better lineup of qualified players, Nghe An quickly took control of the game and created the first chance to score in the 27th minute when Dinh Hoang’s curler struck Long An’s horizontal bar.

Cong Vinh inspired the visitors to a 1-0 lead with a skilful free-kick six minutes later that proved cunning enough to beat Long An goalkeeper Tien Phong.

Vinh then polished his presence with a convenient cross on first-half stoppage time as his teammate Hong Viet doubled the advantage for the Nghe An team.

Dong Tam Long An played better after the break and put increasing pressure on the Nghe An side. Their efforts paid off on the one-hour mark with a goal from Oseni; however, it was not enough to save the hosts from a final 1-2 loss.

The important victory quenched Nghe An’s thirst for points following their four-game losing run and boosted the team’s confidence in the remainder of their V-League campaign.

In other matches the same day, SHB Da Nang disappointed home fans with their 0-0 draw against V-League newbies QNK Quang Nam, while Hanoi T&T recorded a handy home-field 4-1 victory over bottom-placed Hung Vuong An Giang.
