PM congratulates powerlifter Cong on Paralympic gold

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has sent a letter of congratulations to Vietnamese powerlifter Le Van Cong, who performed exceptionally to win a gold medal and break both the Paralympic and world record in the men’s 49kg at the ongoing 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In the letter, the government leader expressed his pleasure at Cong’s extraordinary achievements, which, he said, has been a source of pride to the fatherland and shown the strong will and determination of Vietnam’s younger generations to overcome difficulties and achieve glories.

He asked the sporting sector and media agencies to boost communication on the studying of the will and effort demonstrated by powerlifter Cong, contributing to encouraging people, particularly the disabled, to actively participate in sports activities, integrate into the community and promote their abilities for the development of the entire sports sector and society.

On behalf of the government, PM Phuc extended his congratulation to the Vietnam disability delegation and powerlifter Le Van Cong, expressing his hope that they would continue to build on the obtained result, uphold the solidarity spirit and do their utmost in order to gain more victories at the 2016 Paralympics.
