Bebe Vio wins second Paralympic gold medal in wheelchair fencing

Bebe Vio beat Jingjing Zhou of China 15-9 in the final to defend her Paralympic wheelchair fencing title against the same opponent as Rio 2016.

The Italian captured the globe's imagination with her performance five years ago at Rio 2016 and the popular 24-year-old didn't disappoint putting on a dominant display.

Vio cruised through the pool stage and look in control throughout all of the knockouts. Zhou, the current world number five, fell aside to Bebe's aggressive style.

Judo concludes with three more gold medals for Azerbaijan and one for Uzbekistan

Azerbaijan added to their gold rush yesterday by adding three more gold medals today, bringing the country's gold medal tally to five.

Two gold medals were produced after a waza-ari from Sevda Valiyeva in the women's -57kg and Khanim Huseynova in the women's 63kg plus an ippon from Huseyn Rahimli in the men's -81kg.

Meanwhile, Feruz Sayidov (Uzbekistan) took gold in the - 73kg after beating Kazakhstan's Temirzhan Daulet with an ippon.

China clean sweep in swimming

It's 1-2-3 for China in the women's 100m Backstroke - S11 as Cai Liwen touches first for gold in a world record time of 1:13.46. She smashed her teammate and silver medallist Wang Xinyi's world record by almost three seconds.

Li Guizhi around out the clean sweep by clinching bronze.

China's Tan Yuijao had one target going into Tokyo - to win and defend her title in the women's -67kg finals. And so she did in dominant fashion. She lifted 125kg in her first attempt and went made her best lift of 133kg to win gold.

Canada's Aurelie Rivard has swum her way to gold in the women's 100m freestyle S10 in a world record time of 58.14. She had already broken the world record earlier today in qualifiers (58.60).

Ukraine’s Maksym Krypak has won gold in the men’s 100m freestyle S10 in a world record time of 50.64.

Malaysia wins first gold at Tokyo 2020

Bonnie Bunyau Gustin won Malaysia's first gold medal at Tokyo 2020 after scoring a best lift of 228kg in the men's 72kg powerlifting event beating Egypt's Attia Mahmoud and Great Britain's Micky Yule for the top podium.

Meanwhile, Mexico's Amalia Perez has won her fourth gold medal of her career today in the women's 61kg. She previously won gold in Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016 and two silvers in Athens and Sydney in other weight categories.
