Spain’s confirmation, which follows Mexico signing a fresh three-year deal earlier this month, paves the way for Formula One to expand beyond its current 21 races.
* Tiger Woods had a knee operation last week but is expected to make a full recovery and hopes to be back competing in October. The former world number one said he had an arthroscopic procedure to "repair minor cartilage damage".
* Brazilian striker Hulk scored two second-half penalties to salvage a 2-2 draw for Shanghai SIPG in the first leg of their Asian Champions League quarter-final against twice champions Urawa Red Diamonds from Japan on Tuesday. In the west of the continent, Saudi Arabian champions Al Nassr will take a one-goal lead into the second leg of their quarter-final encounter with Al Sadd of Qatar after notching up a 2-1 win over the Xavi Hernandez-coached side on Monday.
* Dutch rider Fabio Jakobsen sprinted to victory to win stage four of the Vuelta a Espana on Tuesday and deny Irishman Sam Bennett a second successive stage victory by the finest of margins, while Nicolas Roche retained the overall leader's red jersey. The Deceuninck-QuickStep rider edged out Bennett by a matter of millimetres in the flat finale to the 175 km ride along Spain's east coast from Cullera to El Puig to earn his first ever victory at a Grand Tour.
* Bury, one of English football's oldest clubs, were expelled from the Football League (EFL) on Tuesday after failing to resolve their financial problems or find a new buyer, the EFL said in a statement. Bury joined the Football League in 1894, nine years after they were founded, and won the FA Cup in 1900 and 1903. They are the first team to be expelled since Maidstone in 1992.
* Manchester United's Chile forward Alexis Sanchez is set to join Inter Milan on loan, Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Tuesday. The paper said the deal is a pure loan with no agreement or obligation for a permanent transfer and added that United were expected to contribute towards the player's wages.
* Colombia head coach Carlos Queiroz on Tuesday recalled River Plate forward Rafael Santos Borre and Flamengo midfielder Orlando Berrio to his national squad for friendlies against Brazil and Venezuela. Both players were rewarded for an impressive start to the season for their respective clubs, having been absent from Colombia's squad for the 2019 Copa America in Brazil.
* Adam Szalai returns to Mainz after joining from league rivals Hoffenheim on a free transfer, both Bundesliga outfits confirmed on Tuesday. The 31-year-old striker inked a two-year contract that keeps him at Mainz until June 2021.
* Spanish La Liga side RCD Espanyol have signed Argentinian striker Jonathan Calleri on a season-long loan, the club has confirmed. Calleri moves from Uruguayan side Deportivo Maldonado in a deal which could be made permanent for a fee of 25 million euros at the end of June.
* Former Manchester United forward Eric Cantona will be presented the 2019 UEFA President's Award in recognition of his playing career and commitment to charitable causes after it, European soccer's governing body said on Tuesday. The 53-year-old Frenchman will receive the award in Monaco on Thursday during the Champions League group stage draw.
* Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey has withdrawn from the national squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifier against Azerbaijan and an international friendly with Belarus next month, the Welsh national team said on Tuesday.
* Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin has been sidelined for at least eight weeks after injuring his thigh in training, the Premier League club said on Tuesday. The 23-year-old, who signed in the close season from Bundesliga side Mainz 05 for a fee reported to be around 25 million pounds, suffered a tendon injury and did not play a part in the 2-0 loss to Aston Villa last week.
