* Formula One set out its first ever sustainability plan on Tuesday with the aim of achieving a net zero-carbon footprint for the sport by 2030. The Liberty Media-owned championship, which will have a record 22 grands prix next year with the 10 teams flown around the world, said carbon reduction projects would start immediately. It also promised that all Formula One events would be sustainable by 2025.
* Arsenal manager Unai Emery has been given the club's public backing but the Premier League side's hierarchy has warned the Spaniard that results must improve, the BBC reported on Monday. Emery's position is under the spotlight after two wins in Arsenal's last 10 league games with the latest setback coming in a 2-0 defeat at high-flying Leicester City on Saturday.
* England winger Raheem Sterling has been dropped from the squad to face Montenegro in their Euro 2020 qualifier at Wembley after a "disturbance" at the national team's training camp on Monday, the Football Association said. England top Group A and will guarantee a place at the finals with a draw against Montenegro. They face another qualifier on Sunday away to Kosovo in which Sterling could feature.
* Canada's Davis Cup Finals hopes suffered a blow when Milos Raonic withdrew from the team on Monday with a back injury. The 28-year-old former world number three will be replaced by 94th-ranked Brayden Schnur for the week-long event in Madrid.
* The Spanish Super Cup tournament will be played in Saudi Arabia in January 2020, a source from the national soccer association told Reuters on Monday, confirming long-mooted plans that have already attracted criticism in and outside Spain. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Valencia will contest the revamped tournament between Jan 8 and Jan 12, with both semi-finals and the final taking place at the 62,000-capacity King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah.
* Stefanos Tsitsipas celebrated victory over fellow ATP Finals debutant Daniil Medvedev like he had won the title on Monday as he finally snapped a jinx against his Russian bogeyman. Tsitsipas, the first Greek player to qualify for the season-ender, had lost all five previous matches against Medvedev but he turned the tables in impressive fashion.
* Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has been shortlisted for the World Male Athlete of the Year award. Kipchoge is among a list of five athletes vying for athletics' top individual award, given out to the season's best performer. The award gala will be held in Monaco next week.
* Olympic gold medalist Mizuki Noguchi will be the first athlete from Japan to carry the flame on its journey to next year's Tokyo Olympic Games, the organising committee announced on Monday. Noguchi, the winner of the women's marathon at the 2004 Athens Olympics, will be the second runner to take part in the Greek leg of the torch relay, and will receive the flame on March 12 following a lighting ceremony in Olympia, site of the ancient Olympic Games.
