According to the polling results, Nguyen Nho came in first place with 638 points. He was honoured for his noble act of quitting from a clear-cut scoring opportunity when seeing a player of the opposite side painfully lying on the pitch due to injury.

This situation took place in the 13th minute during the clash between Savinest Sanatech Khanh Hoa and Kardiachain Saigon FC within the framework of the 2020 National Futsal Championship. Nguyen Nho received the ball from a teammate and dribbled it past a Saigon defender to come face-to-face with the goalkeeper. In his effort to block Nguyen Nho, the Saigon defender was injured and lay on the field. Instead of shooting home for a goal, unmarked Nguyen Nho decided to kick the ball out so that medical workers could enter the pitch to take care of the injured player.

“At that moment, I did not have the heart to fire a shot. I think any player who falls into this situation will also behave the same way,” Nguyen Nho said.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai midfielder Nguyen Phong Hong Duy came second with 539 points following his restraint and non-aggression after Nguyen Thanh Thu (Saigon FC)’s ugly act of throwing the ball straight at his face during their V.League 1 clash at Pleiku Stadium in October 2020.

Hanoi FC midfielder Do Hung Dung claimed the third prize with 452 points, while the fourth prize went to V.League 1 side Saigon FC for its many community and charity activities. Hong Linh Ha Tinh manager Pham Minh Duc settled for fifth place as he always reminds his players to fight their best and respect the playing rules.

The Fair Play Award 2020 also honoured coach Le Thuy Hai with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contributions to Vietnamese football.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation Cao Van Chong recognised and highly appreciated the efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper in maintaining the awards for the past 10 years, which has contributed to stimulating and spreading the noble values of football.
