The Vietnamese delegation was led by Nguyen Minh Vu, Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Lao delegation was led by Maythong Thammavongsa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views and evaluated border management work in 2025, and proposed practical solutions to further promote and enhance the effectiveness of border management in the new situation.

In 2024 and 2025, the Viet Nam–Laos Joint Border Expert Team conducted 10 field surveys, timely addressing issues arising along the border area. The management and control of entry and exit at border gates and auxiliary crossings were carried out in accordance with relevant international treaties and bilateral agreements, contributing to ensuring security, social order, and safety in border-gate areas. The two sides also coordinated to strengthen professional measures, timely detecting, combating, and preventing effectively cross-border and transnational criminal organisations and networks.

The two sides agreed to initiate preparatory work to ensure the effective implementation of joint inspections of the border line and national border markers in accordance with the provisions of the Protocol on the borderline and border markers (signed on March 16, 2016) and the Agreement 2016. The two sides also agreed to hold the 35th Annual Meeting in Viet Nam in the fourth quarter of 2026.
