Themed “Strengthening endogenous capacities, creating motivation for growth and sustainable development”, the forum was held by the National Assembly’s Economic Committee.
Speaking at the opening of the Forum, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said, that although important results have been achieved recently, the economy is still facing many difficulties and challenges, and new developments appeared more harshly and heavily than predicted.
The NA leader emphasised that strengthening endogenous capacity and creating growth momentum is an objective, inevitable and urgent requirement, to ensure continuity, stability and sustainability, helping the country take advantage of opportunities, overcome challenges, free up resources, and withstand external shocks and crises; at the same time, it helps the economy grow towards sustainable development.
In his speech, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang said, that as a highly open economy, over the past year, Vietnam has had to face many strong external effects, leading to great pressure on inflation and exchange rates, along with risks of market contraction, supply chain and labour disruption, and fluctuations of prices of strategic commodities.
In that context, Vietnam has synchronously deployed policies that focus on resisting and adapting to external pressures; while removing and handling internal weaknesses and blockages, he said.
Opinions and presentations at the Forum are expected to be a useful source of information, providing more scientific and practical content for NA committees to examine within their functions; as well as an important source of input information for National Assembly delegates, to consider and decide on important issues of the country, at the upcoming 6th session of the 15th NA.
