After seven months of the 500-day-and-night campaign, relevant units have completed DNA testing and returned results for nearly 800 samples of martyrs’ remains, successfully identifying dozens of fallen soldiers. Each result reflects the dedication and sense of responsibility of the participating forces, while bringing great comfort to the families of those who sacrificed their lives for the Fatherland.

For the armed forces of Military Region 4, the ‘500-day-and-night campaign to accelerate the search for, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers’ remains’ is a crucial political mission, as well as a race against time to fulfil their responsibility to history, the people, and those who gave their lives.

Drawing on eyewitness memories and traces of the old battlefield, this July, the historic revolutionary site of Hill 722 in Dak Sak Commune, Lam Dong Province, has once again welcomed working teams quietly making their way across hillsides and local farms to cross-check maps, conduct surveys, identify coordinates and search for the nation’s fallen heroes who still remain buried there.

Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Head of the National Steering Committee for Search, Collection, and Identification of Martyrs' Remains launched the “500-Day-and-Night Campaign to intensify the search, collection and identification of fallen soldiers’ remains” at the Special National Relic Site of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel on April 2.
