Over the years, agricultural cooperatives have affirmed their important role in promoting the rural economy. Cooperatives with young management boards are increasingly developing, creating stable livelihoods and income for local people.

The trend of developing the collective economy and cooperatives in Viet Nam will continue amid deep international integration and sustainable development. This requires cooperatives to improve product quality and better meet international standards.

The household economy in agricultural production has truly demonstrated its effectiveness since the Party initiated the Doi Moi (Renewal) process in 1986, especially following the 10th Party Central Committee’s Resolution No.10. This model has helped transform Viet Nam from a country once plagued by food shortages and reliant on imports into one of the world’s leading rice exporters.

The forum “Digital transformation in agriculture: Seizing opportunities, adapting to the future” was organised on October 29 in Ha Noi, under the chairmanship of the Viet Nam Cooperative Alliance, and co-organised with Business Magazine to promote agricultural sector digitalisation and share practical experiences among management agencies, experts, enterprises, and agricultural cooperatives.

From controlling planting areas and product quality to organising domestic and international consumption, the cooperative model is becoming an important “link” that helps Viet Nam’s agricultural products establish sustainable value chains.
