Nearly 400 students from RMIT University Viet Nam have developed mock communication campaigns for the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in Viet Nam to raise public awareness of food safety, in response to World Food Safety Day on June 7.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Phuong Anh on May 21 presented her credentials to Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Qu Dongyu at the FAO headquarters in Rome, officially assuming the role as Vietnam's Permanent Representative to the FAO.

Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man met with Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), in Rome on April 14, affirming that Viet Nam always regards FAO as a leading partner in agricultural and rural development.

A representative of the Viet Nam Farmers’ Union expressed her hope that FAO will continue to accompany Viet Nam in promoting high-tech and environmentally friendly agriculture, delivering tangible benefits to farmers.

Although the “fever” of food prices has cooled down globally, food security challenges remain serious for African countries, as drought, unrest and power shortages are still pushing millions of Africans into starvation.

Food security has been the most talked-about topic during the High-Level Week of the 77th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, which is currently taking place in New York, the US. Amid shortages in supply, the risk of food insecurity is a concern of every country.
