On August 8, the search and recovery force from the Ho Chi Minh City Command continued to expand its search in Zone B of Le Thi Rieng Park, reaching areas where the remains of fallen soldiers are suspected to be located.

The southern province of Tay Ninh has recovered 519 sets of fallen soldiers' remains in Viet Nam and Cambodia, with most of the DNA sampling completed after 60 days of a nationwide 500-day campaign to speed up the search, as well as the 2025–2026 dry-season recovery mission.

Viet Nam's nationwide 500-Day Campaign to search for, recover and identify fallen soldiers' remains has recovered 1,563 sets of martyrs' remains and uncovered nine mass graves, according to the Office of the National Steering Committee for the Search, Recovery and Identification of Martyrs' Remains.

The Special Task Committees of Viet Nam's An Giang province and Cambodia's Takeo province on July 14 signed a handover record for the remains of 14 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during wartime and were recovered in Cambodia during the 2025–2026 dry season.

More than 1,300 sets of fallen soldiers' remains have been recovered so far, including those from three mass graves, during the first 111 days of the nationwide 500-day campaign to accelerate the search for, recovery and identification of war martyrs, an official said on July 4.

Authorities of central Quang Tri province, in coordination with the Lao provinces of Savannakhet and Khammouane, on May 20 held a ceremony at the Lao Bao–Densavan International Border Gate to repatriate the remains of 28 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives during the war in Laos.

Authorities in the southern province of Tay Ninh on May 12 held a ceremony at the Binh Hiep international border gate in Binh Hiep commune to receive the remains of 158 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Cambodia.

During the 2025–2026 dry season, the recovery operations in Laos showed positive results. To date, the forces of Quang Tri have found and collected 27 sets of martyrs’ remains, including 15 by Team 589 and 12 by Team 584.

Deputy PM Pham Thi Thanh Tra said the complexity of the work meant relevant agencies need to change their mindset and adopt new methods to achieve better results.

The southern provinces of Dong Thap and Tay Ninh on July 25 held memorial and burial ceremonies for volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Cambodia and Dong Thap province during the war.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended a memorial and burial ceremony in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on July 21, commemorating 81 Vietnamese soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia and Viet Nam, ahead of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).
