Authorities of central Quang Tri province, in coordination with the Lao provinces of Savannakhet and Khammouane, on May 20 held a ceremony at the Lao Bao–Densavan International Border Gate to repatriate the remains of 28 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives during the war in Laos.

Authorities in the southern province of Tay Ninh on May 12 held a ceremony at the Binh Hiep international border gate in Binh Hiep commune to receive the remains of 158 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Cambodia.

During the 2025–2026 dry season, the recovery operations in Laos showed positive results. To date, the forces of Quang Tri have found and collected 27 sets of martyrs’ remains, including 15 by Team 589 and 12 by Team 584.

Deputy PM Pham Thi Thanh Tra said the complexity of the work meant relevant agencies need to change their mindset and adopt new methods to achieve better results.

The southern provinces of Dong Thap and Tay Ninh on July 25 held memorial and burial ceremonies for volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Cambodia and Dong Thap province during the war.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended a memorial and burial ceremony in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on July 21, commemorating 81 Vietnamese soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia and Viet Nam, ahead of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).
