Tien Minh claims 11th consecutive national title

Nhan Dan Online - Nguyen Tien Minh smashed his way to his 11th consecutive crown, beating his Ho Chi Minh City teammate Nguyen Hoang Nam 2-0 in the men's singles finals of the 2013 National Individual Badminton Championship on September 27.

Despite trailing 5-8 at one point in the first set, Tien Minh clawed back to equalise 8-8 before declaring victory with a score of 21-17.

Minh took control of the second set with strong smashes and quickly dispatched the game 21-15, wrapping up 42 minutes of play with a convincing two-set victory.

Vu Thi Trang from Bac Giang faced no difficulty in her defence of the women's national title, claiming two straight sets against Le Thu Huyen of Hanoi (21-11, 21-13) in their final match on the same day.

The annual championship took place at Phan Dinh Phung Gymnasium in HCM City from September 22-27 with the participation of nearly 130 shuttlers – 71 men and 57 women – representing 21 teams from around the country.
