At the meeting, both sides agreed in their assessment that bilateral defence cooperation is one of the important pillars in the overall relationship between the two countries. Leaders of the Ministries of Defence of both countries expressed their satisfaction that resident Defence Attaché Offices were opened in each country in 2025, creating a solid foundation to promote cooperation in a more substantive manner.
In order to further develop defence relations, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang proposed that in the coming time, both sides should focus on strengthening cooperation in key areas, including: exchange of delegations at all levels and human resource training; cooperation in search and rescue and addressing post-war mine clearance consequences; development of defence industry, cybersecurity, and response to non-traditional security challenges; participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations and enhancement of exchanges among military services and branches.
The Senior Lieutenant General affirmed that Viet Nam is ready to receive Turkish officers to study the Vietnamese language and attend the International Defence Officials Training Course. At the same time, he proposed that the two countries continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially within the framework of the United Nations and ASEAN.
On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang respectfully conveyed an invitation to the leadership of the Ministry of National Defence and defence enterprises of Türkiye to attend and exhibit products at the third Vietnam International Defence Exhibition, scheduled to take place from December 10 to December 13, 2026, in Ha Noi.
Expressing appreciation for the invitation from the Ministry of National Defence of Viet Nam, Deputy Minister Musa Heybet affirmed that Türkiye will send a high-level delegation and leading enterprises to participate in the event.
The Deputy Minister expressed the desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of defence industry. The Turkish side is ready to coordinate, share experience, and transfer technologies appropriate to the needs and practical capabilities of each side, thereby contributing to strengthening friendship and trust between the armed forces of the two countries.
