On the evening of November 12, in Ha Noi, the Embassy of Angola in Viet Nam held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the National Day of the Republic of Angola (November 11, 1975 - 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the Establishment of Angola-Viet Nam Diplomatic Relations (November 12, 1975 - 2025).

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung sent his best wishes to the Government and people of Angola on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of National Day; and highly appreciated the great achievements in all fields that Angola has achieved over the past 50 years.

According to the FM, 1975 was a historical milestone for both nations, when Viet Nam completely reunified the country and Angola declared independence. The two countries officially established diplomatic relations just one day later (November 12, 1975) as a testament to the connection and sharing of core values of independence, freedom and development. Since then, the Viet Nam-Angola bilateral relationship has developed strongly in many fields from politics-diplomacy, economics, culture, education to people-to-people exchange.

Affirming that Angola has now become one of Viet Nam’s leading important partners in Africa, Minister Le Hoai Trung emphasized that with a solid foundation of friendship over the past 50 years, Viet Nam and Angola have every basis to bring bilateral relations to new heights - more substantial, effective and sustainable and become a model for South-South cooperation.

For his part, Angolan Ambassador to Viet Nam Fernando Miguel underscored the significance of Angola’s Independence Day; affirming that November 11, 1975 not only marked a historic moment for Angola but also opened an irreversible path towards freedom.

The Ambassador emphasised that Angola highly appreciated and believed in the support of Viet Nam - a country with a resilient economy and dynamic development, a shining example to learn from.

The Ambassador wished to strengthen strategic coordination on global issues, especially mutual support at international organisations, developing public-private partnerships, mobilising finance for large-scale infrastructure projects, transferring technology in all areas of development and cooperating in technical vocational training.
