Viet Nam Military Medical Academy marks 72nd anniversary of Cambodian National Day

The Viet Nam Military Medical Academy held a meeting to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the founding of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (November 9, 1953 – November 9, 2025) in Ha Noi on November 7.

The event was attended by Major General Pham Duc Tiep, Deputy Director of the Viet Nam Military Medical Academy; Major General Sovanara, Chief of the Military Attaché Office of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in Viet Nam; leaders and commanders of departments and units of the academy; and all staff members, and more than 200 Cambodian cadets currently studying at the academy.

As a leading centre for training and scientific research in military medicine, the Viet Nam Military Medical Academy has been entrusted by the Party, the State, and the Ministry of National Defence with the task of training international cadets, including those from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. Since 1964, the academy has trained more than 600 Cambodian medical and pharmaceutical officers at various levels. The number of Cambodian cadets studying at the academy has continued to increase every year. After returning home, these graduates have effectively applied their knowledge, contributing to the development of Cambodia’s military medicine and national construction.

The academy has also provided the Royal Cambodian Military Medical Academy with teaching materials, equipment, models, and tools for practical instruction in basic medical sciences (anatomy, physiology, histology, etc.). It has dispatched experts to assist in revising training programme contents, strengthening teaching materials, themes, and improving training management.

On behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the Viet Nam Military Medical Academy, Major General Pham Duc Tiep presented flowers and extended his best wishes to all Cambodian officers and cadets currently studying at the academy. He expressed delight at the achievements of the Cambodian people and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in national construction and defence, wishing everlasting vitality and strength to the Viet Nam–Cambodia friendship. He congratulated the Cambodian cadets on their academic and training achievements and expressed confidence that they would continue to uphold and successfully complete their assigned tasks.

On this occasion, the Deputy Director of the Viet Nam Military Medical Academy urged the Cambodian cadets to firmly grasp and effectively carry out the academy’s training objectives and requirements, to make full use of their time, focus on study, and enhance their professional knowledge and medical ethics. This will help them become capable physicians for the Cambodian armed forces and people.

He also reminded them to cultivate discipline, strengthen their sense of responsibility, and strictly observe Vietnamese laws as well as the academy’s regulations; to nurture solidarity among fellow students and units; and actively promote the longstanding tradition of friendship and comprehensive, sustainable cooperation between the Parties, States, and peoples of Viet Nam and Cambodia.
