Entitled Vien Dan Cuoi Cung (The Final Bullet), the film traces the journey of Hoang Xuan Vinh, the first Vietnamese athlete to win an Olympic gold medal, interwoven with themes of resilience, discipline, and the quiet sacrifices behind sporting glory.
Vinh made history on August 6, 2016 when he clinched gold in the men’s 10m air pistol event at the Rio Olympics.
Director Dinh Tuan Vu explained that filming began in 2020 but was interrupted by the COVID‑19 pandemic. After years of delay, the project has now entered its completion phase, with ambitions to stand as one of Viet Nam’s landmark international co‑productions.
The production brings together teams from both nations. Korean producer Patrick Park, who worked on the Oscar‑winning Parasite, joins a line‑up of renowned Korean actors including Lee Kyung Young, Lee Jung Eun and Jung Il Woo. They appear alongside Vietnamese talents such as Nhan Phuc Vinh, Thanh Huong, Luong Gia Huy and other familiar faces.
Filming took place in both Viet Nam and the RoK, at training and competition venues used by Olympic athletes.
According to Dinh Tuan Vu, The Final Bullet is not merely a retelling of an Olympic triumph but a narrative of belief, companionship and the drive to surpass all limits.
He emphasised that the team’s motivation was not simply to recreate Vinh’s historic victory, but to convey universal values of willpower, perseverance and an indomitable spirit.
Representing the Korean side, producer Patrick Park expressed confidence that The Final Bullet will serve as a cultural bridge between Viet Nam and the RoK. He noted that Hoang Xuan Vinh’s journey is not only a source of national pride but also a story of global resonance about determination, endurance and the pursuit of triumph.
