During the May 6 meeting, the two sides discussed orientations for enhancing collaboration between Viet Nam and Slovakia on the basis of a cooperation agreement on crime prevention signed in March 2017 between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Slovak Ministry of Interior. Key areas of cooperation include combating transnational crimes, terrorism, cybercrime, drug crime, financial crime, human trafficking, and organised crime.

The two sides also explored the possibility of promoting delegation exchanges between relevant partners and initiating negotiations on mutual legal assistance agreements.

The Vietnamese diplomat expressed appreciation for the Slovak ministry's attention to and readiness for cooperation.

He affirmed that Slovakia is one of Viet Nam’s traditional partners, and that the recognition of the Vietnamese community as an ethnic minority in the country is a clear testament to the Slovak Government and people’s acknowledgment of the community’s active contributions to local society.

Advisor Csemi welcomed Viet Nam’s proposals and expressed his readiness to receive Vietnamese delegations in Slovakia.

He emphasised that cooperation between the two countries is essential amid current global security challenges. He also noted the contributions by the Vietnamese community in Slovakia form a solid stepping stone for advancing bilateral relations to a new height.

On the basis of the strong friendship between Viet Nam and Slovakia, and in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the countries' diplomatic ties, Giang and Csemi agreed to maintain regular contact and coordinate closely to fully realise the potential of bilateral cooperation.
