The meeting emphasised the importance of enhancing media cooperation between the two countries, especially as Viet Nam and Thailand prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026. Vice Chairman Dung expressed hope that Thai authorities will facilitate stronger ties between the two national journalists’ associations and media outlets.
Both sides discussed the potential for more timely information-sharing and collaborative media productions in Vietnamese and Thai languages. They also highlighted the need for increased cultural and informational exchange to strengthen mutual understanding.
Dung underscored Viet Nam’s push for digital transformation in journalism and proposed enhanced cooperation in content creation, training, and personnel exchanges. Balankura welcomed these initiatives and affirmed Thailand’s support for closer media ties, citing shared values and people-to-people connections between the two nations.
The Vietnamese delegation also visited Matichon Group’s Khaosod newspaper and Thailand’s National Broadcasting Services (NBT), where they explored newsroom operations and discussed future partnerships.
Earlier, VJA and the Thai Journalists Association held a media cooperation seminar at Chulalongkorn University on July 16, reaffirming the effectiveness of a 2024 Memorandum of Understanding and plans for its renewal in 2026.
