The statement was made by Vice President and Minister of Communications and Information Freddy Nanez, who is also President of the Venezuelan National Television Station (VTV), during his meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My on July 8.
Expressing admiration for Viet Nam’s significant achievements in its renewal process and socialist development under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV), Vice President Freddy Nanez stressed that these accomplishments serve as a vital foundation for Viet Nam’s advancement into a new era towards building a strong, prosperous, equitable, democratic, and civilised nation.
He affirmed that despite geographically distance, Venezuela and Viet Nam share core values rooted in national independence, freedom, social justice, and the happiness of the people that are reflected in the ideals of national heroes Simon Bolivar and President Ho Chi Minh. In the context of increasing global and regional uncertainties that pose both opportunities and challenges to development, the information and communications sector plays a crucial role in safeguarding national independence and socialism in both countries.
On the basis of the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Viet Nam and Venezuela, Vice President Freddy Nanez proposed the enhancement of bilateral cooperation in the field of information and communications. Specifically, both countries should coordinate efforts to promote and disseminate information on national policies and important events, as well as historical and cultural heritage, socio-economic progress, and mutual cooperation potential through each country's mass media. This would foster greater mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral ties.
Speaking in his capacity as President of Venezuelan National Television (VTV), Freddy Nanez underlined the vital role of television in delivering timely, accurate, and vivid information that fosters exchange, cooperation, and mutual understanding among the nations. In this spirit, he expressed hope that the Venezuelan National Television and Vietnam Television would soon establish a cooperation mechanism to jointly disseminate reliable, verified, and objective information on political, economic, cultural, and social developments, along with the key achievements of both countries.

Gratefully acknowledging the sincere sentiments expressed by Vice President Freddy Nanez and other Venezuelan leaders toward the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam, Ambassador Vu Trung My affirmed his commitment to strengthening and deepening the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Viet Nam and Venezuela, including in the area of media cooperation.
Ambassador Vu Trung My highly appreciated the efforts of Venezuelan National Television and other media agencies in regularly reporting on Viet Nam. Notably, VTV Venezuela was among the first Latin American broadcasters to cover Viet Nam’s official implementation of the two-tier local government model and administrative restructuring toward greater efficiency and effectiveness on July 1, 2025.
Pledging to continue serving as a bridge to advance cooperation between the national televisions of the two countries, Ambassador Vu Trung My expressed his belief that effective collaboration between the two broadcasters would enhance external communications and widely promote the image of Viet Nam as a peace-loving, friendly, cooperative, and developing nation—a reliable partner and responsible member of the international community. At the same time, it would help Vietnamese audiences gain a deeper understanding of Venezuela as a peaceful, beautiful, and culturally rich country with great development potential.
On this occasion, Ambassador Vu Trung My presented Vice President Freddy Nanez with the Spanish translation of President Ho Chi Minh’s poetry collection “Nhat ky trong tu” (Prison Diary).
Visibly moved by the gift, Vice President Freddy Nanez shared that as a writer and poet, he made two visits to the beautiful and hospitable country of Viet Nam and had the opportunity to learn about Vietnamese literature, including “Prison Diary” by President Ho Chi Minh.
He added that “Prison Diary” is a monumental literary work expressing the thoughts and emotions of President Ho Chi Minh, a great national liberation hero and an outstanding cultural figure of Viet Nam and the world. The collection is not only a poetry but also a revolutionary manifesto, a testament to the unyielding spirit of the communist fighter, and a call for peace and freedom for all nations. It holds deep educational value not only for generations of Vietnamese people but also for peace-loving communities and revolutionary movements around the world, Vice President Freddy Nanez remarked.
