Vietnam and China promote local court cooperation

A workshop of the courts of the border provinces between Vietnam and China was held in Nanning, in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China on June 30.

Speaking at the opening session, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasised, that this was an event of great significance, marking a new milestone for the broader development between the court systems of the two countries, contributing to strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and China.

The workshop helped create favourable conditions for the parties to share their experiences in the fight against crime and cross-border civil disputes; coordinate to improve the effectiveness of the 1998 Treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between Vietnam and China, he said.

At the workshop, the delegates discussed three important topics, including strengthening the application of information technology in court; cooperation between the border provincial courts of the two countries; service of procedural documents related to cross-border criminal cases and civil disputes.

Through discussions, the local courts of the two countries hoped to find appropriate orientations and effective solutions to strengthen cooperation in the coming years.
