Vietnam and China work to implement border area cooperation and development initiatives

Vietnam and China have agreed to promote cooperation and development in border areas to build a border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development.

The agreement was reached on May 28-29, at a meeting of the two countries’ joint committee on the land border in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed and reached many common perceptions on the joint committee’s agenda in 2024, focusing on organising activities to mark several agreements on the land border between the two countries.

They include the 25th anniversary of the Agreement on the Vietnam-China Land Border, the 15th anniversary of the Protocol on Vietnam-China Land Border Demarcation, the Agreement on Vietnam-China Land Border Management Regulations and the Agreement on Vietnam-China Land Border Gates and Border Gate Management Regulations.

The two sides will also work together to continue resolving disputes on the border in accordance with the relevant regulations and agreements, and implement border area cooperation and development initiatives, among others.

In the coming time, the two sides agree to continue collaborating closely, effectively implement the task of border management and protection and promote cooperation and development in border areas.
