Vietnam and Laos give high priority to their special solidarity relationship

On November 9, Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Secretariat Vo Van Thuong hosted a reception in Hanoi for Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee cum head of its Organisation Commission Sisay Leudetmounsone, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

Speaking at the reception, Politburo member Vo Van Thuong congratulated Laos on its achievements after nearly two years of implementing the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress; expressing his belief that, under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Lao people will continue to achieve more new achievements in the cause of national renewal, defence and development.

He affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance and give top priority to promoting the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, and strongly supports Laos’ renewal process.

The practical and effective development of Vietnam – Laos special relations has made an important contributionto maintaining political stability, defence, security and socio-economic development in both countries, he noted.

Politburo member Vo Van Thuong proposed orientations to further strengthen relations between the two parties and states in the coming time, especially in the exchange of ideas on theoretical and practical issues, sharing experience in Party and political system building, training, and personnel planning.

For her part, Sisay Leudetmounsone expressed her pleasure at the fruitful development of the Vietnam-Laos special relations across fields, stating that Laos will work closely with Vietnam to preserve and promote this special relationship of solidarity to future generations of the two nations.

The Lao official informed her host of the outcomes of the talks with her Vietnamese counterpart Truong Thi Mai, affirming that the two sides are determined to effectively implement agreements between senior leaders of the two parties and countries.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues related to party and political system building, personnel work, and the implementation of a cooperation agreement between the two organisation commissions for the 2022-2026 period.
