Fully known as the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE), NASA’s programme is designed to help students, teachers, scientists and local communities to increase their awareness of environmental issues.

According VAST Chairman Chau Van Minh, the academy had signed a joint declaration on cooperation in science, civil space and aeronautics activities with NASA in 2011.

Specific cooperation areas include the exchange of earth observation data, space geodesy and global exploratory satellite systems, earth sciences, and human resources training for remote sensing and educational activities, including GLOBE.

Under this agreement, the GLOBE programme will help Vietnam improve the quality of science education, enhance environmental awareness among young people, build the connection between scientists and educators, and make meaningful contributions to environmental protection.
