Implemented by authorities of Vinh Phuc and Luang Namtha provinces, the project has an investment of VND75 billion (US$3.57 million) and is the second funded by Vietnam’s non-refundable aid.
The new Vieng Phu Kha high school, covering more than 1,300 square metres, has a three-storied building with 40 classrooms, a meeting hall, a library and two lounge rooms for the faculty.
The Lao government paid for site clearance, lighting, water and electricity supplies, and a fence around the football pitch, costing nearly VND9 billion (US$428,000).
Deputy Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Co-operation Sub-committee Khampheuy Keokinnaly, in his speech, hailed the project as a symbol of the special friendship and solidarity between the two Parties, States and peoples.
Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of Luang Namtha province Pheththavone Philavan vowed to put the Vietnamese government’s gift to best use over the long term, contributing to educating younger generations about the special ties between the two countries.
