Vietnam reports trade surplus of 3.6 billion USD in January

Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of 3.6 billion in the first month of 2023, according to the General Department of Customs.

Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of 3.6 billion USD in the first month of 2023, according to the General Department of Customs.

In January, the country exported 25.08 billion USD worth of goods, down 13.6% from a year earlier, while imported goods were worth 21.48 billion USD, a year-on-year drop of 21.3%.

The total value of export and import in January was 46.56 billion USD, down 17.3% from December and down 25.01% over the same period last year.

Tax revenue collected by customs in January was estimated at 24.852 trillion VND (over 1 billion USD), down 42.3% from the same month in 2022.
