Vietnamese athletes secured 18 gold and eight silver medals. Algeria finished second with nine gold, seven silver, and six bronze medals, while Cambodia ranked third with five gold, four silver, and nine bronze medals.
The championships attracted the participation of more than 650 athletes from 35 countries and territories, who vied for 44 sets of medals in both performance and combat events.
Vovinam was founded by late master Nguyen Loc in 1938 in Hanoi. It has been preserved, promoted and developed strongly by generations of martial art masters.
Vovinam is practised by more than 2.5 million martial artists from about 70 countries and territories.
Vovinam is expected to have athletes in all 63 cities and provinces throughout Vietnam. The martial arts will be introduced and pushed in schools.
