The publication is part of the activities marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League (June 1925 – June 2025).
The book guides readers through the story from the childhood of young Nguyen Sinh Cung in Sen Village to the historic moment when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, founding the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam.
With a concise and emotionally engaging narrative by authors Hoang Nguyen Cat, Tran Ha, and Le Phuong Lien, complemented by vibrant watercolour illustrations by artist Ha Quang Phuong, the book resembles a vivid film reel, enabling readers, especially young children, to approach history in an accessible and engaging way.
A key highlight of the content is the section depicting the period when Nguyen Ai Quoc founded the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League, a crucial turning point paving the way for the establishment of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
The bilingual Vietnamese-Chinese format not only assists children in learning a foreign language but also broadens accessibility for the overseas Vietnamese community, particularly children living in Chinese-speaking countries, as well as for international friends keen to learn more about President Ho Chi Minh. It also serves as a cultural bridge, introducing Vietnamese history and culture to the world.
The Deputy Director and Editor-in-Chief of Kim Dong Publishing House shared: “With its bright, lively watercolour illustrations, the book offers young readers an immediate visual impression of Uncle Ho’s revolutionary path, his patriotism, and steadfast determination. We hope to inspire a love for history and nurture a sense of national pride among the younger generation.”
Alongside Telling Stories about Uncle Ho, Kim Dong Publishing House has also released several other significant titles on this occasion, including ‘Following in Uncle Ho’s Footsteps’ by Prof. Dr. Trinh Quang Phu and ‘Ho Chi Minh — A Man and a Nation’ by three Italian authors, offering readers a more comprehensive insight into the life and remarkable revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh.
