On behalf of the officials and staff at the Embassy of Viet Nam in Thailand, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung extended wishes for a New Year of peace, happiness, prosperity, and development. “I wish all Vietnamese people at home and abroad a New Year full of health, happiness, and success.”
As 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Thailand, the Ambassador expressed his hope that the bilateral friendship and excellent cooperation would continue to flourish for the benefit of both nations.
Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, one of Thailand’s most prestigious and long-established universities, which has extensive cooperation with Viet Nam in education and human resource training, sent his best wishes to the Vietnamese community in Thailand and Thai-Vietnamese people for a New Year filled with happiness, health, success, and good fortune.
He shared that he had visited several provinces in Viet Nam and admired the country’s cultural richness. Through these trips, he observed Viet Nam’s rapid development, noting that progress could be seen day by day.
He emphasised: “This year, Viet Nam and Thailand mark 50 years of diplomatic relations. I wish the friendship between our peoples continues to thrive, and that relations between our two nations develop splendidly.”
Associate Professor Dr Thananan Boonwanna, a Thai historical researcher and a loyal Nhan Dan reader, said she had visited Viet Nam many times, attended numerous festivals, and especially enjoyed Tet celebrations.
“This year, the Vietnamese people are welcoming the Year of the Horse with great jubilation. I can sense the happiness and excitement whenever meeting Vietnamese people in Thailand,” she expressed.
She reiterated her joy at celebrating Tet with Vietnamese friends, adding that Viet Nam is a country she feels deeply attached to, with many fond memories. Over the past year, she has witnessed Viet Nam’s rapid transformation and strong development in socio-economic fields as well as foundational sectors for future growth.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, she affirmed her desire to share in the joy of Vietnamese friends over the achievements attained in recent years.
The overseas Vietnamese community always preserves customs, traditions, and the Vietnamese language to never forget our roots — wherever we are, we are Vietnamese.
Ho Van Lam, President of the Association of Vietnamese in Thailand and Chairman of the Thai-Vietnamese Business Association, emphasised that Tet is an occasion for overseas Vietnamese to gather together.
During Tet, the community participates in cultural activities that help them better understand their homeland and origins.
“The overseas Vietnamese community always preserves customs, traditions, and the Vietnamese language to never forget our roots — wherever we are, we are Vietnamese. Overseas Vietnamese are children of Viet Nam far from home, always supported by the homeland,” he stated.
He congratulated Viet Nam on its achievements in 2025 and on the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, expressing his belief that Viet Nam’s role and prestige will continue to rise, with its people enjoying warmth, happiness, civilisation, and prosperity.
Do Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the Thai-Vietnamese Association in Bangkok and surrounding areas, shared that on February 19, the third day of the first lunar month, he joined Vietnamese friends in organising a New Year gathering to welcome the Year of the Horse.
He wished Viet Nam ever greater prosperity, peace, stability, and success in achieving its major goals.
On behalf of overseas Vietnamese in Bangkok, he affirmed that the community always remains united, supports one another, and turns its heart towards the fatherland. He stressed that overseas Vietnamese in Bangkok and across Thailand believe in the resilience of the Vietnamese people, pledging to stand under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam to build a richer, more civilised nation with a bright future.
Pham Duc Dau, Head of the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh President Relic Site in Udon Thani Province, noted that in the early days of the Lunar New Year, the site welcomed hundreds of overseas Vietnamese.
At the start of the year, he sent warm Tet wishes to the Vietnamese people for happiness, prosperity, and steady progress in the era of national rise.
Wherever we are, we Vietnamese students pledge to turn towards our roots, striving to study hard to one day return and contribute to our homeland Viet Nam.
Pham Nguyen Nhu Quynh, President of the Vietnamese Students’ Association in Thailand, conveyed her wishes for a prosperous New Year for the homeland, with strong transformation and global reach.
“We, Vietnamese students in Thailand, wish every Vietnamese family abundant health, happiness, and peace amid fulfilling laughter. Though geographical distance is vast, it has never hindered the pride and fierce love that Vietnamese students in Thailand always hold for the Fatherland. Wherever we are, we Vietnamese students pledge to turn towards our roots, striving to study hard to one day return and contribute to our homeland Viet Nam,” she stressed.
