Vietnamese enterprises further promote cooperation with Cambodia’s Northeast region

The potential for cooperation between Vietnamese enterprises and localities in Northeast Cambodia remains very large. This was affirmed by the authorities of Northeast Cambodian provinces during meetings with Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu and the working delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia.

Within the framework of the working trip to the Northeast region of Cambodia from August 5 to 8, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu together with the working delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia held meetings with leaders of Mondulkiri and Ratanakiri — border provinces in Northeast Cambodia that are closely connected with the Central Highlands provinces of Viet Nam.

At meetings with the provincial leaders and departments of Mondulkiri and Ratanakiri, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu emphasised that successful cooperation between Cambodian and Vietnamese localities in recent times has played an important role in building a peaceful, friendly, and jointly developing border, continuing to consolidate and nurture the special friendship between the two countries.

Thanking the provincial authorities for facilitating Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business locally in recent years, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his hope that in the coming time the provincial authorities will continue to care for and create favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to expand investment and business, especially facilitating enterprises to enjoy the incentives of the Royal Government of Cambodia under the Development Programme for Northeast Cambodia for the 2025-2028 period.

The ambassador also thanked the provincial authorities for enabling the Vietnamese-origin community to integrate with the local society and contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality; expressing the wish that localities continue to support Vietnamese-origin people to receive full legal documents and stabilise their lives.

Mondulkiri Provincial Governor Thang Savun highly appreciated the role of Vietnamese rubber enterprises, as demonstrated by their fulfilment of tax obligations to the Cambodian State and their active participation in social welfare activities in the province; affirming the province’s policy of valuing Vietnamese investors as good neighbours who contribute to the increasingly developed Viet Nam-Cambodia relationship.

Ratanakiri Provincial Governor Nhem Sam Oeun stated that Ratanakiri maintains close relations and regular exchanges with Vietnamese localities, continuing the tradition of good neighbourly relations between the two countries. He also highly appreciated the role of Vietnamese enterprises in the province, suggesting they explore opportunities to expand cooperation in new fields for mutual development.

During the working trip, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu met representatives of the Khmer-Vietnamese Association (KVA) Executive Committee in Mondulkiri Province and Ratanakiri Province. Appreciating the dedication of the Executive Committee members in supporting and enhancing solidarity within the Vietnamese-origin community, the ambassador acknowledged their proposals and suggestions; urging them to comply well with Cambodian laws, strive in life, and integrate with the local society.

Deputy Governor of Mondulkiri Cheak Mengheang directly participated in the meeting with the KVA Mondulkiri branch representatives, addressing some concerns of the community and requesting the Branch Executive Committee to strengthen coordination with local authorities in disseminating Cambodian policies and laws so that the community complies with the law and better integrates into local community life.

Visiting and working with Dak Lak-Mondulkiri Rubber Company, Krong Buk-Rattanakiri Rubber Company, Koun Mom Complex under THACO Group in Rattanakiri, the Pacific project of Gemadept Group, and Dong Nai and Dong Phu Rubber Companies in Kratie Province, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu highly appreciated the spirit of overcoming difficulties shown by the staff of these companies.

The ambassador expressed his belief that Vietnamese enterprises will continue to develop and operate increasingly effectively, creating more jobs as well as performing well in social welfare activities for Cambodian people and supporting local authorities, becoming a solid bridge to continue consolidating multifaceted cooperation, the special friendship, and traditional solidarity between the peoples of the two countries.
