Vietnamese junior players qualified for Asian table tennis championship

Young Vietnamese table tennis players have qualified for the next month’s continental tournament thanks to their outstanding performances at the ongoing Southeast Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship in Malaysia, according to Department of Physical Training and Sports under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This the first time the Vietnam juniors players receive their slots at the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship, which will be organised on June 30-July 6 in Chongquin, China this year.

On the first day of the competition, the Vietnamese U19 male team won a silver after losing 3-0 to the host Malaysia. Vietnam also took three bronze medals in the girls' U19, boys' and girls' U15 team events.

Vietnam sent 16 players to the tournament who are competing in categories of 14-15 and 18-19 years old at the Sports Arena OCM Indoor Complex, in Kuala Lumpur.

The tournament features athletes from regional nations with the finals scheduled for May 16.
