41st Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championships kicked off

The 41st Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championships, PetroVietnam Cup (PVCFC), was launched at the Quang Ninh Provincial Gymnasium in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province on the evening of July 5.

The launch ceremony saw the presence of Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong; and Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Ky; among other officials.

In his opening speech, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh said that the Vietnamese table tennis team has made great progress, becoming a strong team in the region. Table tennis has also become a sport with a large number of Vietnamese people practising, ranked second after running.

The 41st Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championships saw the largest number of athletes and delegations ever, including 174 athletes from 20 table tennis delegations, from localities and clubs across the country. In particular, six teams are participating in the tournament for the first time.

“The coordination between Quang Ninh Province and Nhan Dan Newspaper, to organise the tournament, has great significance in terms of politics, economy, culture, sports and tourism and this is also an opportunity for Quang Ninh to introduce to domestic and international friends, about the history, culture, land and people of Quang Ninh,” said Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh.

Marketing Director of Ca Mau Petroleum Fertilizer Joint Stock Company Le Tien Hung shared the pleasure of sponsoring the tournament for 11 consecutive seasons. “Year by year, the tournament has become more and more attractive and exciting, with enhanced quantity and quality. Thereby, it helps to discover and supplement outstanding athletes to the national sports, making Vietnamese table tennis known in the region and the world,” Hung added.
