In the letter, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs of South Sudan emphasised that the Vietnamese engineers have distinguished themselves through exceptional professionalism, discipline, and unwavering dedication to their mission.
“Their skilful restoration and enhancement of vital infrastructure, bridges, and essential facilities have sparked transformative socio-economic progress, improved connectivity, and strengthened regional stability and development. These accomplishments stand as a compelling testament to the superior technical competence, diligence, and spirit of solidarity of the Vietnamese contingent,” the letter stated.
The ministry also extended its deepest gratitude for the invaluable contributions of the Vietnamese peacekeepers, which have indelibly reshaped the landscape of the region. It further expressed high regard for the steadfast support of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in deploying this capable engineering force, as well as UNISFA’s exemplary leadership that has enabled these pivotal achievements.
This marks the third time in eight months that Viet Nam’s Military Construction Engineering Unit Rotation 4 has received a letter of commendation. The previous two letters were issued by local authorities in the Abyei region.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Cong, Political Commissar of the unit, shared that these three letters of commendation are a source of immense pride for the team, stressing that the greatest reward lies in the daily changes and the peaceful smiles of the people of Abyei.
He affirmed that the unit will continue to uphold the spirit of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and fulfil the responsibilities entrusted by the Party and State in the United Nations peacekeeping mission, ensuring that the name ‘Viet Nam’ will always be a symbol of peace.
