The event was attended by Ambassador Le Quang Long, officials and staff from Vietnamese representative offices, Vietnamese students studying in Cuba, members of the Cuba-Viet Nam Friendship Association, and many local citizens who hold deep admiration and affection for President Ho Chi Minh — the outstanding leader of the Vietnamese people.
In his speech at the ceremony, Ambassador Le Quang Long revisited President Ho Chi Minh’s journey to find a path for national salvation and his immense contributions to the struggle for national liberation and reunification, all driven by his burning desire to achieve freedom and independence for Viet Nam and happiness for its people.
Ambassador Long also noted the symbolic significance of May 19, which is also the day Cuban national hero José Martí fell in battle for his country’s independence. He emphasised the many parallels between President Ho Chi Minh and José Martí — two eminent sons of Viet Nam and Cuba — particularly in their patriotic spirit, revolutionary ideology for national liberation and sovereignty, and their decisive roles in the histories of their respective countries. The enduring values of their thoughts continue to be honoured and embraced by peoples around the world.
The aspiration for freedom and independence and the progressive ideas of these historical leaders form a strong foundation for the faithful, loyal, and ever-lasting friendship between Viet Nam and Cuba — “forever green and eternal.”
“President Ho Chi Minh not only made great contributions to Viet Nam’s national liberation but also to the global struggle against oppression and slavery, while promoting human and cultural development worldwide. In 1987, UNESCO honoured him as a ‘hero of national liberation and a great man of culture'. In many parts of the world, statues and museums have been erected in his memory, reflecting deep gratitude for his contributions and promoting stronger ties between Viet Nam and other nations,” the ambassador stressed.

On behalf of the Vietnamese community in Cuba, Ambassador Long reaffirmed the commitment to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example through practical actions that first and foremost contribute to the traditional Viet Nam-Cuba relationship.
The ambassador expressed hope that staff at Vietnamese representative offices, especially the younger generation, as well as students in both countries will carry forward the revolutionary path laid out by President Ho Chi Minh.
Looking ahead to the 65th anniversary of Viet Nam–Cuba diplomatic ties (December 2, 1960 – 2025), Ambassador Long proposed concrete actions to pass on the revolutionary spirit and exemplary friendship between the two nations to future generations. Among these actions is the promotion of President Ho Chi Minh’s image and legacy through tangible projects.
Located halfway across the globe from Viet Nam, the park named after President Ho Chi Minh lies along one of Havana’s grandest boulevards. It is not only an architectural landmark with profound historical and cultural significance but also a symbol of the solidarity and friendship between the Vietnamese and Cuban peoples.
Covering an area of 5,600 square metres, the park stands as a place of remembrance and reverence, embodying the deep respect the Cuban people hold for President Ho Chi Minh — beloved leader of the Vietnamese people and a world-renowned cultural figure.
