Under the theme “Vietnam Tourism Roadshow,” the event featured the participation of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Agency, the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents, airlines and representatives of more than 100 travel companies from the two countries.

Addressing the event, Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Head of the VNAT, said in 2015 about 230,000 Malaysian tourists visited Vietnam, with Malaysia ranking first in ASEAN and seventh in the world in terms of the number of tourists to visit Vietnam.

The event not only introduced Vietnam’s tourism sector, but also aimed to help firms better understand the tastes of Malaysian tourists.

General Director of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board Syed Yahya Syed Othman lauded tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia in recent years.

Vietnam should pay more attention to the provision of halal food and tour guides conscious of Islamic culture so as to attract more Malaysian tourists, he said, adding that Vietnamese cities still lack restaurants suitable for Muslim tourists.
