VND 450 billion allocated for State-funded students abroad

Nhan Dan – VND 450 billion (around US$21.6 million) from the State budget will be used to support candidates who won scholarships to study abroad under Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) Projects No. 911 and 322, according to the Prime Minister Decision No 811/QĐ-TTg issued on July 2.

Project 322 was postponed in May due to its scanty budget, which meant that 224 candidates who passed the entrance exam were no longer eligible to participate in the project.

The Vietnam International Education Development under the MoET will inform these candidates of the new decision so that they can complete the necessary procedures to attend their courses.

The Prime Minister’s Project 322 to send 400 candidates abroad each year to study for masters and doctoral degrees was approved in 2000.

Project 911, which has been implemented since 2010, aims to award 20,000 doctoral degree scholarships to postgraduates and teachers at colleges and universities across the country between 2010 and 2020 in order to develop high-quality human resources that will contribute to the country’s development and international integration.
