Workshop seeks to improve quality of publications in new situation

The Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Mass Mobilisation coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Publishing Association to organise a scientific workshop on improving the quality of publications in the new situation.

The workshop is of great significance in providing theoretical and practical bases for summarising 20 years of implementing Directive No.42-CT/TW, dated August 25, 2004 of the Secretariat on improving the overall quality of publishing activities.

The papers submitted and the opinions expressed at the workshop discussed the results of research, understanding of modern publishing models, administration, editing and publishing processes; sharing experiences, good practices, and effective methods in organising, implementing, and handling difficult, important, complex, and sensitive topics; assess the positive impacts (and unwanted impacts) of digital technology, the network environment, and the widespread application of artificial intelligence (AI) in publishing and editin; on that basis, propose feasible and effective solutions to improve the quality of publications as well as ensure the development of the publishing industry.

Concluding the workshop, Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Mass Mobilisation affirmed that the opinions and presentations sent to the workshop demonstrated the meticulous, serious, dedicated and responsible research of experts, scientists, and those working in publishing, providing more evidence, arguments, and insights; as a basis for management agencies, publishers, printing and book distribution units to continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of publication content, promoting the development of publishing in the new development stage.

Emphasising that the context after more than 20 years of implementing Directive No. 42-CT/TW has posed new requirements, Thuy suggested continuing to strengthen the Party’s leadership, promoting the role and responsibility of Party committees and State management; coordinating with the Vietnam Publishing Association and relevant agencies, publishing management agencies to maintain the leadership role and orientation for publishing to fulfill its mission well in the new era, the era of prosperity, wealth and development.

Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission suggested prioritizing resource allocation, promoting investment in facilities, technology, digital transformation for publishing activities, closely linking improving the quality of publication content with the application of science and technology, innovation, and national digital transformation according to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo.
