An Giang Province announces establishment of Tinh Bien Town

The People’s Committee of An Giang Province announced a resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the establishment of Tinh Bien Town and its wards under An Giang Province on April 25.

The announcement ceremony saw the presence of Politburo member and Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, and more than 500 representatives from provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region.

Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh affirmed that the establishment of Tinh Bien Town and its wards marks a new development step for An Giang Province.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Office Pham Dinh Toan announced the NA resolution on the establishment of Tinh Bien Town and seven wards under the town, including Nha Bang, Nhon Hung, An Phu, Tinh Bien, Thoi Son, Nui Voi, and Chi Lang.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tran Thanh Man praised the leaders of An Giang Province for their efforts and determination to develop Tinh Bien into a town, contributing to creating synergy in promoting urban development in the town.

The establishment of Tinh Bien Town is a great honour and an encouragement to the local people and authorities. At the same time, it is the responsibility of the authorities to uphold the sense of responsibility and solidarity to develop Tinh Bien Town into an economic and social centre of the border region, Man noted.

Tinh Bien Town has Tinh Bien International Border Gate, one of Vietnam’s important trade gateways with Cambodia and ASEAN countries.
