The conference was attended by 140 doctors, young scientists of the host country Vietnam and ASEAN countries.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Le Quoc Phong affirmed that the conference would open many opportunities for delegates to exchange experience and knowledge; propose initiatives, recommendations on science, technology and cooperation in ASEAN.
The event featured some main activities including a plenary session on the role of science and technology in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals; seminars on environmental protection and climate change; initiatives and recommendations of young scientists to develop science and technology in ASEAN.
In addition, delegates also had a chance to participate in a training programme on scientific leadership skills and a series of activities such as visiting historical and cultural sites in Hanoi.
The conference was considered one of the key activities as part of a series of events for young people and young intellectuals in 2020 when Vietnam undertakes the role of ASEAN Chair.
