The event was part of a nationwide programme entitled “Red Journey” to motivate people to donate their blood for those in need.

Since its first edition in 2013, the programme has attracted the participation of millions of people, who have contributed nearly 700,000 blood units, said Tran Ngoc Que, Director of the National Blood Centre.

The programme has helped address blood shortages during summer, raised public awareness on blood donation and thalassemia, and trained thousands of local blood donation campaigners throughout the country.

In 2023, the programme is taking place for two months in 48 provinces and centrally-governed cities and is expected to culminate in Hanoi on July 30. Dak Lak is the 35th location of the programme.

Continuing the success of previous events, this year’s “Red Journey” in Dak Lak drew the participation of over 1,000 local officials, public servants, workers and residents, who donated a total of 806 blood units, exceeding the target of 500.
