Budget revenue from export-import up 7.4%

Vietnam’s budget revenue from export and import activities in the first five months of 2024 was estimated at 165,696 billion VND (6.5 billion USD), up 7.4% over the same period last year, according to the General Department of Customs.

During the January-May period, the country’s total import and export turnover rose by 16.6% to 305.53 billion USD.

Of the figures, exports reached 156.77 billion USD, up 15.2%, while imports climbed 18.2% to hit 148.76 billion USD, which translated into an 8-billion-USD trade surplus.

The General Department of Customs was tasked with collecting 375 trillion VND in budget revenue, with collection from export and import activities at 204 trillion VND.

The department said it would continue to reform customs policies and procedures while taking measures to prevent trade fraud and facilitate exporters and importers.
