NDO - Ho Chi Minh City will strive for an economic growth rate of 6-6.5% in 2022, said its Chairman Phan Van Mai at a conference on January 8, to outline socio-economic tasks for the new year.

The city will also maintain the contribution of services at over 60% and a total social investment at 35%, of its gross regional domestic product.

Mai said in order to achieve such targets, the city will step up efforts to improve the business climate and remove difficulties enterprises are facing.

He also called on municipal agencies, companies and trade associations to contribute their opinions on important matters and practical solutions.

According to Chairman Mai, the city was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, but there were still bright spots, such as government revenues exceeding its target and foreign investment up 38.48%.

The city has determined that it will continue facing a great deal of challenges in 2022 and will take necessary steps to deal with issues concerning city management, economic and labour structure, social security and the environment.
