The Cambodian legislative leader made the affirmation while meeting with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang in Hanoi on August 18 during his ongoing visit to the country.
He said he is pleased with fine diplomatic ties between the two countries and believes that the bilateral relationship will continue to thrive in the future.
Informing the host of the Cambodian legislature’s upcoming activities, he thanked Vietnam for helping Cambodia escape from the Khmer Rouge regime in the past as well as assisting the country in its current development, especially in infrastructure, human resources training and humanitarian aid.
For his part, President Sang applauded Cambodia’s recent socio-economic development achievements, which he said have helped improve the country’s role in the region and the world at large.
Vietnam consistently supports a prosperous kingdom of Cambodia, which is an active member of ASEAN, he stated.
In addition to boosting co-operation in education and health, he suggested the two sides work hard to raise their two-way trade to US$5 billion by 2015 while closely co-ordinating with and supporting each other at regional and international forums.
