In his opening address, Cao Bang Vice Chairman Trinh Truong Huy stated that the UNESCO Geopark title awarded in 2018 has helped promote provincial tourism across the country and to the world.

Thanks to that, both the number of visitors to Cao Bang and revenue from tourism have witnessed strong growth, laying the groundwork for tourism to become a key economic sector of the province in the coming years.

In December 2022, UNESCO decided to continue its recognition of the Cao Bang Global Geopark after the first revalidation, reflecting the province’s efforts to protect the park following UNESCO’s criteria and recommendations.

To continue promoting the value of the Cao Bang Global Geopark, the culture-sports-tourism week is being held from September 27 to October 3, with a wide range of exciting activities.

During the week, there will be an art exhibition of Vietnam’s northern mountainous provinces, performances of folk arts, paragliding activities and an exhibition of local specialities for the One Commune One Product programme.

Another highlight was a mass performance of 3,000 people in ethnic costumes on the evening of September 30 at the Kim Dong pedestrian street in Cao Bang City.
