Ceremony held to celebrating 80th Anniversary of August Revolution and National Day in Brazil

On the evening of August 28 (local time), in the capital city of Brasília, the Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (September 2, 1945 - 2025), with the participation of nearly 400 local delegates and international friends in Brazil.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi affirmed that the event of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945 not only gave birth to a nation but also opened a new era of independence, freedom and happiness for the entire Vietnamese people.

Under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, President Ho Chi Minh and the development orientation according to his ideology, the Vietnamese people overcame all difficulties, gained independence, unified the country and successfully carried out the comprehensive renewal process, making Viet Nam a peaceful, stable, friendly and dynamic country in the international arena.

Reviewing Viet Nam’s remarkable achievements in all fields over the past 80 years, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi said that from a poor, backward country devastated by war, after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal), Viet Nam has risen to become one of the world’s top 32 economies, among the top 20 countries with the largest foreign trade and among the top 15 developing countries attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) with capital flows reaching more than 24 billion USD, mainly focusing on high technology and renewable energy sectors. Viet Nam’s GDP has increased from 6.47 billion USD in 1990 to more than 476 billion USD in 2024 and is forecast to reach 500 billion USD in 2025.

Currently, Viet Nam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries, from comprehensive partnerships to comprehensive strategic partnerships with 38 countries, is a member of more than 70 international and regional organisations, has trade relations with 230 countries and territories, participated in 17 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), including new generation agreements, connecting with more than 60 countries and territories.

On behalf of the Brazilian Government, Ambassador Laudemar Aguiar – Secretary for Trade Promotion, Science, Technology, Innovation and Culture of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry sent congratulations to the Party, State and people of Viet Nam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

Laudemar Aguiar said that Viet Nam is currently a priority strategic partner of Brazil in Southeast Asia, cooperating in the fields of agriculture, science and technology, education, defence, trade and investment. Trade between the two countries in 2024 reached nearly 8 billion USD, with a target of 15 billion USD by 2030, and for the first time Brazil will export beef to Viet Nam - demonstrating the commitment and coordinated efforts of the two sides.

Deputy Minister Laudemar Aguiar expressed his belief that the Viet Nam-Brazil relationship is based on friendship, mutual respect and a commitment to peace, towards sustainable development. The strategic relationship between the two countries will be increasingly strengthened, thanks to the leadership vision and contributions of ambassadors, diplomats, as well as partners on both sides, he added.
